How Much Does a Custom Body Kit Cost in Australia?

6 November 2026 · Brodie Webb · 5 min read

Short answer: at C1 Studio, a single custom part such as a front lip starts from $3,500 AUD, including design and production. A fully custom, one-off (1/1) body kit package typically starts around $20,000 AUD and can reach $50,000 AUD or more for complex builds.

Those numbers surprise people who are used to off-the-shelf kits, so this article explains what you are paying for, what changes the price, and how to tell whether custom is the right call for your car.

Custom Body Kit Price Guide

  • Single custom part (e.g. front lip): from $3,500 AUD, design and production.
  • Several individual parts: quoted per part and per project; shared scanning and design work can be combined.
  • Full custom 1/1 body kit: typically from $20,000 AUD.
  • Complex or fringe builds: $50,000 AUD and up, for example widebody programs or heavily reworked panels.

Every project is quoted individually after an enquiry. These figures are starting points, not fixed prices.

Where the Money Goes

A custom part is not a product pulled from a shelf. Most of the cost is skilled labour spread across a sequence of steps, each of which has to be done properly for the part to fit and finish well.

  • 3D scanning: capturing your car's real surfaces, gaps and mounting points rather than relying on factory drawings.
  • CAD design: an original shape modelled on the scan, then rendered on your car for sign-off.
  • Prototyping: proving the fit, stance and proportions before any tooling is made.
  • Mould making: the most time-intensive step, and the one that separates a part that fits from one that doesn't.
  • Fibreglass production: hand-laid for consistent thickness and strength, finished primer-ready and inspected.

Custom vs Off-the-Shelf Body Kits

Off-the-shelf kits spread their tooling cost across many buyers, which is why they are cheaper. The trade-off is fit: they are designed to roughly suit a model, and often need trimming, filling and reworking before paint. A custom kit is designed for one car from a scan of that car, so the design, fitment and finish are the point, not an afterthought.

If a catalogue part exists for your car and you are happy with how it looks and fits, it will almost always be cheaper. Custom makes sense when nothing exists, when fit and finish matter more than price, or when you want a design nobody else has.

What Changes the Price

  • Size and number of panels, from a single lip to a full front, sides and rear program.
  • Complexity of the shape and how many curves and returns it has to follow.
  • Whether it is an original design or a reproduction of a rare part.
  • Design-only (CAD files) versus design through to finished fibreglass parts.
  • Shipping destination and part dimensions.
