WHAT DOES A BODY KIT INCLUDE?
A full body kit typically includes a front lip or bumper, rear diffuser or bumper, side skirts, and optionally a rear spoiler or wing. Some kits add fender flares for a wide-body look. You can also buy individual aero components — for example, just a front lip or just a diffuser — rather than a complete kit. At C1 Studio, every component is designed as a standalone piece that fits and functions correctly on its own.
TYPES OF BODY KITS
Body kits generally fall into a few categories: OEM-style (factory-look replacements), street / show kits (aggressive styling without track requirements), aero kits (functional downforce-generating components), and full wide-body kits (fender flares and over-fenders that widen the car's track). The right style depends on your goals — whether that's a period-correct JDM look, maximum show impact, or genuine aerodynamic improvement.
BODY KIT MATERIALS: FIBREGLASS, POLYURETHANE, AND CARBON FIBRE
The three most common body kit materials are fibreglass (GRP), polyurethane (PU), and carbon fibre. Fibreglass is lightweight, rigid, and paintable — ideal for one-off or low-volume custom parts. Polyurethane is more flexible and impact-resistant, making it better for daily-driven cars that may clip kerbs. Carbon fibre is the lightest option and visually striking, but expensive and less practical for complex shapes. DO BODY KITS IMPROVE AERODYNAMICS?
A well-designed body kit can improve aerodynamics by reducing lift, managing airflow under the car, and improving stability at speed. A front lip reduces air going under the car and lowers front-end lift. A rear diffuser accelerates airflow under the car to reduce drag. Side skirts prevent high-pressure air from spilling under the car's floor. However, not all body kits are designed for aero performance — some are purely cosmetic. HOW ARE CUSTOM BODY KITS MADE?
Custom body kits start with a design phase — sketches refined in CAD — then 3D scanning of the donor car to ensure fit accuracy. A prototype is produced (often in foam or FDM print) to check fitment before moulds are made. Fibreglass components are then laid up by hand in those moulds, trimmed, and finished ready for paint. The entire process at C1 Studio happens in-house — from first sketch to finished part.
